PDF has become a universal exchange format within organizations. It's
also widely used between business partners and throughout supply chains.
Often, you'll receive a PDF page which has an illustration or chart which
you want to include in a presentation. Or, you'll receive a PDF document
that assists you in creating a Visio diagram.
With pdf2picture, you'll save time re-creating
or redrawing these pictures. pdf2picture will quickly and accurately
convert your PDF files into the native Microsoft picture format (WMF)
so you can edit both the objects and the text.
There are two types of PDF files - scalable and image. pdf2picture will convert
scalable PDF files into editable objects and text. Because image
PDF's have been reduced to dots on the page, it is not possible to
recreate the geometry. Image PDF files will be converted to an image
format compatible with the target application.

Scalable PDF: Once cnverted, these files will be completely editable with the Microsoft drawing tools - lines
can be stretched, text can be modified, color and other
attributes can be changed and objects can be rotated, grouped or
ungrouped.
Image PDF: If the original PDF file contained a
scanned image or raster file (jaggy when zoomed), it will be
converted to a bitmap picture object which can be placed in your
document and edited with a Paint program.
WMF, or Windows Metafile, is the native scalable vector graphics
format for the Microsoft Windows operating system and it is supported by many
applications. The files generated by pdf2picture will work in any
application that supports WMF. With pdf2picture,
you'll add an invaluable tool to your work environment. Using it,
you'll be able to import and edit any scalable PDF file in Microsoft
Office and other popular applications. It may even become a bridge
in your workflow by providing a consistent, high-quality path between your other applications
and MS Office.

Q. Do I have a Scalable or Image PDF?
>more
A. Zoom in on your PDF file using the magnifying glass
in Acrobat. Anything over 200% will give you enough to
see whether the objects are smooth (scalable) or jaggy
(bitmap image). This extreme example is zoomed to 1600%
to highlight the difference clearly.
